It never goes
it's a beast asleep
one eye half-open
waiting for the season
the right time
to uncurl assert itself

It never goes
like a melody lingers
in the stratosphere
its' haunting refrains
reminding us
there was a time
when we sang the one song
in harmony everyone

It never goes
this memory
from ancient time
when women were owned
like feudal slaves
man's property
used like chattels
for the opposite sex

It never goes
an ugly rumour
resurfacing
thought gone
thought forgotten
only to resurface
with malicious intent
with all its' propensity
to do harm

It never goes
because it's primordial
belongs to the cave
in our genes - genetic
always returning
to haunt and remind
this is the state of man

It never goes
it's a mirror in the face of humanity
saying: "take a look at yourselves
one is never less than the other
complimentary opposites
magnetic attraction
yes
but all of us equal
in our divine difference"
